This is a broadly inhibitory human monoclonal antibody targeting the PfEMP1 CIDRα1 domain, the primary virulence factor responsible for severe malaria. Identified through a novel combination of plasma mass spectrometry and transcript sequencing from a malaria-exposed child, this antibody targets a highly conserved structural site.
