CD207 is a C-type lectin receptor expressed by Langerhans cells, a specialized subset of dendritic cells found in the skin and mucosa. It functions as an endocytic receptor, recognizing and internalizing glycosylated antigens. CD207 is involved in the formation of Birbeck granules, which are unique organelles within Langerhans cells. Through antigen capture and processing, CD207 contributes to the initiation of immune responses against pathogens that invade epithelial surfaces.
