CD3 (cluster of differentiation 3) is a protein complex and T cell co-receptor that is involved in activating both the cytotoxic T cell (CD8+ naive T cells) and T helper cells (CD4+ naive T cells). It is composed of four distinct chains. In mammals, the complex contains a CD3γ chain, a CD3δ chain, and two CD3ε chains.
The CD44 antigen is a glycoprotein found on the surface of cells that plays a crucial role in cell-cell interactions, adhesion, and migration. In humans, the gene that encodes CD44 is located on chromosome 11. This antigen is also known by several other names, including HCAM (homing cell adhesion molecule), Pgp-1 (phagocytic glycoprotein-1), Hermes antigen, lymphocyte homing receptor, ECM-III, and HUTCH-1.
