LAG3

The LAG3 gene contains 8 exons. The sequence data, exon/intron organization, and chromosomal localization all indicate a close relationship of LAG3 to CD4. The gene for LAG-3 lies adjacent to the gene for CD4 on human chromosome 12 (12p13) and is approximately 20% identical to the CD4 gene.
Protein class

CD markers

Predicted location

Intracellular, Membrane (different isoforms)

Single cell type specificity

Cell type enhanced (Peritubular cells, T-cells, Leydig cells, dendritic cells)

Immune cell specificity

Immune cell enhanced (gdT-cell, memory CD8 T-cell, MAIT T-cell)

Cell line specificity

Cell line enriched (HDLM-2)

Interaction

Interacts with MHC class II (MHC-II); selectively recognizes stable complexes of peptide and MHC-II (PubMed:1692078, 7589152, 8647185, 9159144). Interacts with FGL1 (via the Fibrinogen C-terminal domain) (PubMed:30580966).
