This product is a recombinant human anti-HIV-1 monoclonal antibody. MAb CL1 specifically binds to gp160 and can be potentially used in the treatment of acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (AIDS), a condition in humans characterized by clinical features including wasting syndromes, central nervous system degeneration and profound immunosuppression that results in life-threatening opportunistic infections and malignancies.

Figure 1 shows the uniqueness of antibodies of the CL2 and the CL3 (=recomb. CL2) cell lines among a multitude of different anti-HIV antibodies; only the antibodies of CL2 and CL3 are recognized and bound by the antidiotypic antibodies M1 G1.
