GLUD1 (Glutamate Dehydrogenase) catalyzes the oxidative deamination of glutamate to α-ketoglutarate in the mitochondria. it integrates amino acid catabolism with the TCA cycle, serving as a critical regulator of insulin secretion and ammonia homeostasis.
