Background

Phosphatidylserine (PS) is a crucial phospholipid component of cellular membranes, notably concentrated on the inner leaflet of the plasma membrane. It plays a significant role in various cellular processes, including cell signaling, apoptosis, and membrane function. A particularly important aspect of PS is its role in apoptosis, where it translocates to the outer leaflet of the cell membrane, serving as an 'eat-me' signal for phagocytic cells. Beyond apoptosis, PS is involved in diverse physiological functions, such as blood coagulation, cell growth, and neuronal function. Therefore, Phosphatidylserine is involved in a very large amount of key functions throughout the human body.
