SmartAb™ Recombinant Anti-EDA pH-dependent Antibody (VS-0825-YC105)

The anti-EDA pH-dependent antibody (VS-0825-YC105) targets human EDA in a pH-dependent manner, with its affinity remaining high at neutral pH but weakening at a lower pH, such as within the acidic environment of endosomes. The anti-EDA acid-switched antibody was engineered by incorporating histidine residues into its variable regions. The introduction of histidine substitutions within its Complementarity-Determining Regions (CDRs) enables pH-responsive antigen binding, which leads to enhanced EDA clearance. The antibody operates in a cyclical manner, binding EDA in the extracellular fluid and releasing it in acidified endosomes. Human EDA, or Ectodysplasin A, is a protein that is a member of the TNF family. It plays a critical role in the development of ectodermal structures, including hair, teeth, and sweat glands, and mutations in its gene lead to ectodermal dysplasia.
