Provided is a fab fragment of the mAb 4P12, which is a human recombinant antibody generated against CMV gp116 AD2 epitope. The antibody is capable of neutralizing the CMV virus. This antibody is useful for the prevention and treatment of CMV infection, and for the diagnosis and monitoring of CMV infection.
