Human Anti-LTA scFv-Fc Chimera (VS-0425-FY147)

CAT#: VS-0425-FY147

Anti-LTA scFv-FC specifically binds to lipoteichoic acid (LTA), a component of the bacterial cell wall. This scFv-FC format aims to neutralize LTA's effects, reducing inflammatory responses associated with bacterial infections. The Fc region extends the half-life and can facilitate mechanisms like antibody-dependent cellular cytotoxicity (ADCC), making it a candidate for therapeutic use in infectious diseases.

  • Function
  • Lipoteichoic acid (LTA) is a major surface component of Gram-positive bacteria, acting as a crucial structural molecule for cell wall integrity, growth, and division. Anchored in the bacterial membrane, it extends through the peptidoglycan layer.
Beyond its structural role, LTA is a potent modulator of the host immune system. It acts as a pathogen-associated molecular pattern (PAMP) recognized by pattern recognition receptors like Toll-like receptor 2 (TLR2) on immune cells. This recognition triggers signaling pathways leading to the release of pro-inflammatory cytokines, chemokines, and other immune mediators, playing a vital role in the initial response to Gram-positive bacterial infections. However, excessive LTA stimulation can also contribute to inflammation and tissue damage. The specific immune responses elicited by LTA can vary depending on its structural variations across different bacterial species.
