Background

The protein encoded by this gene is a regulatory subunit of the AMP-activated protein kinase (AMPK). AMPK is a heterotrimer consisting of an alpha catalytic subunit, and non-catalytic beta and gamma subunits. AMPK is an important energy-sensing enzyme that monitors cellular energy status. In response to cellular metabolic stresses, AMPK is activated, and thus phosphorylates and inactivates acetyl-CoA carboxylase (ACC) and beta-hydroxy beta-methylglutaryl-CoA reductase (HMGCR), key enzymes involved in regulating de novo biosynthesis of fatty acid and cholesterol. This subunit is one of the gamma regulatory subunits of AMPK.

Rabbit Anti-PRKAG1 Recombinant Antibody (clone R08-7D5) (CAT#: VS3-FY1648)
The Rabbit Anti-PRKAG1 works well for IP in HEK293 lysates, effectively pulling down the target with clean background. We observed consistent performance across batches, though some optimization was needed for heart tissue lysates. While we haven't tested it extensively in other applications, it's proven reliable for our co-IP studies when paired with proper controls.

Recombinant Rabbit Anti-PRKAG1 Monoclonal Antibody (DS2849AB) (CAT#: MOR-2849)
The Anti-PRKAG1 performs well in WB with clear detection of the expected band in HEK293T lysates. We noticed slight non-specific bands in liver tissue samples that required increased blocking time. While it's slightly more expensive than standard options, the batch-to-batch consistency has been good for our basic protein expression studies.
