Recombinant anti-TLR9 intrabody in fusion with +36GFP works within cells to bind human TLR9, expressed in E. coli cells. Intracellular antibodiess expressed inside the ER block transitory protein functions by inhibiting the translocation of the protein from the ER to its subcellular destination.

However, whereas a covalent link between the cell-penetrating peptide and its cargo is typically required.
