Recombinant mouse antibody to gp160(739-743). 1577 binds to the epitope ERDRD. It neutralized African and American HIV-1 lab strains.
Figure 1 Untreated, proteinase K-treated, or proteinase K- and NP40-treated microsomal fractions were analyzed by Western blotting using human antiserum 95-2 against Env or monoclonal antibody 1577 directed against the cytoplasmic domain of gp41.
The extracellular domain of gp41 is ubiquitinated.

Figure 2 Inhibition of transcytosis of cell-free HIV-1 through a tight HEC-1 epithelial barrier by 13 monoclonal antibodies and polyclonal antibodies to gp160
The results are expressed as means ± standard deviation of the percentages of transcytosis inhibition obtained in four separate experiments.
