SmartAb™ Recombinant Anti-LGALS3 pH-dependent Antibody (Clone CBL228)

The anti-LGALS3 pH-dependent antibody (clone CBL228) targets human LGALS3 in a pH-dependent manner, with its affinity remaining high at neutral pH but weakening at a lower pH, such as within the acidic environment of endosomes. The anti-LGALS3 acid-switched antibody was engineered by incorporating histidine residues into its variable regions. The introduction of histidine substitutions within its Complementarity-Determining Regions (CDRs) enables pH-responsive antigen binding, which leads to enhanced LGALS3 clearance. The antibody operates in a cyclical manner, binding LGALS3 in the extracellular fluid and releasing it in acidified endosomes. Human LGALS3 (Galectin-3) is a lectin that is involved in cell adhesion, proliferation, and apoptosis. This pleiotropic molecule plays a key role in various biological processes, including inflammation, fibrosis, and cancer progression.
