SmartAb™ Recombinant Anti-IgE pH-dependent Antibody (Clone Omaizumab)

The anti-IgE pH-dependent antibody (clone Omaizumab) targets human IgE in a pH-dependent manner that affinity is kept high at neutral pH but becomes weaker when pH is lowered, such as in the acidic environment of the endosomes. The anti-IgE acid-switched antibody was engineered by incorporating histidine residues into their variable regions. The introduction of histidine substitutions into its CDRs allowed pH-responsive antigen-binding leading to enhanced IgE clearance. The antibody works in cycles of IgE binding in the extracellular fluid and IgE releasing in acidified endosomes. Human IgE (Immunoglobulin E) is a class of antibody that plays a critical role in the immune system's response to allergens and parasites. It is primarily found in the lungs, skin, and mucous membranes, where it binds to mast cells and basophils, triggering the release of inflammatory mediators upon exposure to an allergen.
