SmartAb™ Recombinant Anti-IL18 pH-dependent Antibody (VS-0825-YC179)

The anti-IL18 pH-dependent antibody (VS-0825-YC179) targets both human and monkey IL18 in a pH-dependent manner, with its affinity remaining high at neutral pH but weakening at a lower pH, such as within the acidic environment of endosomes. The anti-IL18 acid-switched antibody was engineered by incorporating histidine residues into its variable regions. The introduction of histidine substitutions within its Complementarity-Determining Regions (CDRs) enables pH-responsive antigen binding, which leads to enhanced IL18 clearance. The antibody operates in a cyclical manner, binding IL18 in the extracellular fluid and releasing it in acidified endosomes. IL18, or Interleukin-18, is a pro-inflammatory cytokine that is a key player in the Th1 immune response. It is involved in the activation of T-cells and NK cells and is implicated in various inflammatory and autoimmune diseases.
