IL3RA encodes the alpha subunit of the IL-3 receptor, which, when bound to IL-3, initiates signaling pathways essential for the development and differentiation of hematopoietic cells. This receptor is expressed on hematopoietic stem and progenitor cells, and its activation supports the production of various blood cell types. IL3RA is crucial for immune system function, influencing the growth of immune cells such as granulocytes, erythrocytes, and monocytes. Defects in the IL3RA gene can lead to hematological disorders such as leukemia or abnormalities in blood cell production.
Protein class

CD markers, FDA approved drug targets

Predicted location

Intracellular, Membrane (different isoforms)

Single cell type specificity

Cell type enhanced (dendritic cells, Endothelial cells, Adipocytes, monocytes, Langerhans cells)

Immune cell specificity

Immune cell enriched (basophil)
