Background

Mesothelin (MSLN) is a glycosylphosphatidylinositol (GPI)-anchored protein expressed on mesothelial cells of the pleura, peritoneum, and pericardium, with low normal tissue expression. It is overexpressed in mesothelioma, pancreatic cancer, ovarian cancer, and lung adenocarcinoma, promoting cell adhesion and tumor progression. MSLN's restricted normal tissue expression and high tumor specificity make it an attractive target.
