SmartAb™ Recombinant Anti-IL6 pH-dependent Antibody (VS-0825-YC206)

The anti-IL6 pH-dependent antibody (VS-0825-YC206) targets human IL6 in a pH-dependent manner, with its affinity remaining high at neutral pH but weakening at a lower pH, such as within the acidic environment of endosomes. The anti-IL6 acid-switched antibody was engineered by incorporating histidine residues into its variable regions. The introduction of histidine substitutions within its Complementarity-Determining Regions (CDRs) enables pH-responsive antigen binding, which leads to enhanced IL6 clearance. The antibody operates in a cyclical manner, binding IL6 in the extracellular fluid and releasing it in acidified endosomes. IL-6 (Interleukin-6) is a pleiotropic cytokine that plays a central role in inflammation and the acute phase response. Its dysregulation is implicated in various autoimmune diseases and cancers, making it a major therapeutic target.
