This product is a monoclonal antibody that recognizes an epitope within the MUC1 tandem repeat array. The H23 can detect MUC1/REP and MUC1/SEC. This antibody can inhibit the proliferation and growth of tumor cells as well as inducing cell death in cancer cells inducing epithelial, colon, lung, breast and ovarian tumor cells or other cells that express MUC1 proteins.

Flow-cytometry analysis. Mouse DA3 transfected cells, expressing the MUC1 gene were incubated with 100 μg/ml HumH23 MBP-scFv (I), 100 μg/ml MuH23 MBP-scFv (II), 10 μg/ml of H23 Mab (III), 100 μg/ml anti-fluorescein MBP-4-4-20(Fv) (IV), for 2 h at room temperature. The cells that were incubated with MBP-scFvs were stained with a mouse anti-MBP Mab followed by FITC-labeled goat anti-mouse IgG antibodies. Cells that were incubated with H23 Mab were stained with FITC-labeled goat anti-mouse IgG antibodies. As control, cells were stained with FITC-labeled secondary antibodies alone.

Immunohistochemical staining of breast cancer cells and tumor sections. Paraffin-embedded T47D breast cancer cells (I–III with 63× magnification) and breast cancer tissue samples (IV–VI with 40× magnification) were stained with 100 μg/ml HumH23 MBP-scFv (I, IV), anti-fluorescein MBP-4-4-20(Fv) (II, V) or 10 μg/ml of H23 Mab (III,VI). MBP-scFvs were detected with anti-MBP Mab followed by HRP-conjugated goat anti-mouse antibodies that were also used to detect staining by the H23 Mab.
