The fragment crystallizable (Fc) region of immunoglobulin G (IgG) is the tail region of an antibody that interacts with cell surface receptors and proteins of the complement system. The Fc region plays a key role in activating the immune system. The Fc portion of immunoglobulin G (IgG) is a horseshoe-shaped homodimer, which interacts with various effector proteins, including Fcγ receptors (FcγRs).
