Background

per1, or Extended-spectrum beta-lactamase PER-1, is a specific Class A β-lactamase capable of hydrolyzing a broad range of β-lactam antibiotics, including extended-spectrum cephalosporins and monobactams, but not carbapenems. PER-1 is commonly found in Gram-negative bacteria like Pseudomonas aeruginosa and contributes significantly to multidrug resistance in clinical settings, posing a significant challenge to antibiotic therapy.

Interaction

Homodimer (By similarity). Component of the circadian core oscillator, which includes the CRY proteins, CLOCK or NPAS2, ARNTL/BMAL1 or ARNTL2/BMAL2, CSNK1D and/or CSNK1E, TIMELESS, and the PER proteins (By similarity). Interacts directly with TIMELESS, PER2, PER3, CRY1 and CRY2 (By similarity). Interacts with ARNTL/BMAL1 and CLOCK (By similarity). Interacts with GPRASP1 (By similarity). Interacts (phosphorylated) with BTRC and FBXW11; the interactions trigger proteasomal degradation (PubMed:15917222). Interacts with NONO, WDR5 and SFPQ (By similarity). Interacts with USP2 (By similarity). Interacts with HNF4A (PubMed:30530698).
