HM-1 is one of the most acutely toxic fungicides produced by the yeast Williopsis saturnus var. mrakii IFO 0895. HM-1 affects sensitive yeast cells primarily in the growing stage and kills yeast cells through inhibiting β-1,3-glucan synthase, an enzyme participating in the cell wall synthesis of yeasts and fungi and also this has the antigenecity.
