Background
Lymphocyte antigen 6 (Ly6) family members are a group of glycosylphosphatidylinositol (GPI)-anchored cell surface proteins primarily expressed on hematopoietic cells. While their exact ligand and precise molecular mechanisms are not fully elucidated, they play crucial roles in cell adhesion, signal transduction, and immune cell differentiation and function. Among these, Ly6G and Ly6C are particularly important as common phenotypic markers for distinguishing different myeloid cell populations in mice.
