Background
Self-reactive lymphocytes that escape elimination during development can cause autoimmune diseases later in life. Structural characterization of a substantial number of self-reactive TCRs is necessary to define at a repertoire level how such TCRs can productively engage self-antigen despite the need to escape deletion.
