Background
Estrogen sulfotransferase is an enzyme that in humans is encoded by the SULT1E1 gene. At present, sulfuric acid transfer enzyme (sulfotransferases,SULTs) has gradually become a hot spot in tumor research. The SULTs superfamily mainly includes SULT1 and SULT2. SULT1E1, one of the main members of SULT1 subfamily, and is the most potent estrogen-catalyzing enzyme of the 10 isoenzymes found so far, which can make estrogen sulfide and lose biological activity, and is a pre-receptor mediated enzyme. The biological transformation of uterine fibroids may be related to the decrease of enzyme activity caused by the abnormal SULT1E1 gene, which leads to the continuous increase of local estrogen, thus inducing the occurrence of uterine fibroids.
