The Formate dehydrogenase, nitrate-inducible, cytochrome b556(fdn) subunit is an integral membrane component of the bacterial formate dehydrogenase complex. This cytochrome b-type heme protein receives electrons from the iron-sulfur subunit and transfers them to the quinone pool, linking formate oxidation to anaerobic respiration with nitrate.
