moaA, or Cyclic pyranopterin monophosphate synthase, is an enzyme involved in the biosynthesis of the molybdenum cofactor (Moco). It catalyzes the conversion of GTP to cyclic pyranopterin monophosphate (cPMP), an early step in Moco synthesis. Moco is essential for the activity of various molybdoproteins, including nitrate reductase and xanthine oxidase.
