ndx4, or ADP-ribose pyrophosphatase, is an enzyme that hydrolyzes ADP-ribose to AMP and ribose 5-phosphate. ADP-ribose is a product of ADP-ribosylation reactions, a post-translational modification. Ndx4 plays a role in cellular detoxification by preventing the accumulation of ADP-ribose and its incorporation into nucleic acids.
