Background
porB, or Outer membrane protein II (OmpB), is a major outer membrane porin found in Neisseria species. PorB forms anion-selective channels that facilitate the passive diffusion of nutrients and waste products across the outer membrane. It is also a virulence factor, capable of interacting with host cells and modulating immune responses, contributing to bacterial pathogenesis.
