The immune response to the branched synthetic polypeptide antigen poly-L-(Tyr,Glu)-poly-D,L(Ala)-poly-L-(Lys), designated (T,G)-A-L, is under the control of H-2 linked Ir genes. The majority of antibodies bind to a GT containing epitope and bear an idiotope defined by monoclonal antibodies I7 and I9.
Figure 1 Anti-idiotope induces an anti-(T,G)-A-L response in genetic non-responders to (T,G)-A-L. H-2 congenic mice on three different backgrounds were immunized with I9 antibody in CFA.
Sera from mice were assayed by ELISA for (T,G)-A-L binding activity.
