Background
Chlamydia trachomatis serovar L2 ompA refers to the gene and encoded Outer Membrane Protein A (OmpA) of Chlamydia trachomatis serovar L2. Chlamydia trachomatis causes trachoma, urethritis, etc., and serotyping is based on ompA sequence differences. Serovar L2 is linked to lymphogranuloma. OmpA accounts for over 60% of outer membrane proteins, maintaining outer membrane stability, mediating bacterial adhesion/invasion, and aiding inclusion body maturation/metabolism. The ompA sequence is the basis for serotyping, and OmpA is a candidate antigen for vaccines, as anti-OmpA antibodies inhibit bacterial invasion.
