Recombinant anti-HIV-1 Vpr intrabody in fusion with +36GFP works within cells and is directed against HIV-1 Vpr, expressed in CHO cells. It is able and is directed against the HIV-1 regulatory Vpr protein in the cytoplasm of eukaryotic cells, leading to its delocalization from the nucleus to the cytoplasm.

GFP with a theoretical net charge of +36 (+36 GFP) penetrated several different mammalian cell lines at very low (nanomolar) concentrations. However, whereas a covalent link between the cell-penetrating peptide and its cargo is typically required.
