Background
Abl is a non-receptor tyrosine kinase with a crucial role in cell growth, differentiation, and survival. Its normal activity is tightly regulated; however, chromosomal translocations, particularly the Philadelphia chromosome, can lead to the formation of the oncogenic fusion protein Bcr-Abl. This constitutively active kinase drives uncontrolled cell proliferation, making it a significant target in the treatment of chronic myeloid leukemia.
