The group 5 allergen Blo t 5 is clinically the most important major allergen from B. tropicalis mites. Epidemiological studies revealed that up to 90% of the asthmatic and rhinitis patients, particulary pediatric patients, from tropical and subtropical countries have strong IgE reactivity to Blo t 5.
