Recombinant human antibody to gp120. m16 inhibited cell fusion mediated by the Envs of 9 HIV-1 isolates from clades A, B, E and G with potency comparable to that Fab X5.

Sulfation does not contribute to gp120 association. Antibody and gp120/CD4 complexes were immunoprecipi-tated with protein A-Sepharose and analyzed by SDS-PAGE. With the functionally sulfated E51, such ST-shRNA treatment reduces binding by 6- to 8-fold.
