Enables calcium ion binding activity involved in regulation of presynaptic cytosolic calcium ion concentration. Predicted to be involved in regulation of long-term synaptic potentiation and regulation of presynaptic cytosolic calcium ion concentration. Located in gap junction. Is active in parallel fiber to Purkinje cell synapse. Is expressed in several structures, including alimentary system; nervous system; reproductive system; respiratory system; and sensory organ. Orthologous to human CALB2 (calbindin 2).
