SELP, which codes for P - selectin, is a cell adhesion molecule belonging to the selectin family. It is stored in Weibel - Palade bodies in endothelial cells and α - granules in platelets. Upon cell activation, such as in response to inflammation or injury, P - selectin is rapidly translocated to the cell surface.
