Sheep derived Antibody Production & QC Service

Sheep are a valuable host species in antibody development pipelines, particularly for generating high-yield, high-affinity polyclonal and recombinant antibodies. Their large body size allows for substantial serum collection, while their immune system offers strong responses to a wide range of antigens, including those poorly immunogenic in rodents. This makes sheep especially useful for producing antibodies against conserved mammalian proteins, membrane antigens, or peptides with weak antigenicity.

At Creative Biolabs, we have optimized sheep-based antibody production to serve researchers requiring milligram- to gram-scale antibody supply with consistent quality. Whether you're targeting specific epitopes, screening for anti-idiotypic candidates, or designing antibodies for immunoassay development, our sheep-derived antibody production and QC services offer both flexibility and scientific rigor.

Sheep Recombinant Antibody Production at Creative Biolabs

Our sheep antibody platform supports both traditional polyclonal serum production and recombinant antibody development from isolated B cells. After a tailored immunization regimen, lymphoid tissue or peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMCs) are collected to isolate variable region genes encoding antigen-specific antibodies. These genes are cloned and expressed in mammalian expression systems to produce antibodies in recombinant formats such as scFv, Fab, or full-length IgG.

For polyclonal antibody generation, we design custom antigen preparations and perform multiple immunization boosts over 8–12 weeks. Serum is collected under strictly controlled conditions, purified using affinity chromatography, and validated using antigen-specific assays. Our protocols are optimized to yield high-affinity antibodies suitable for ELISA, Western blotting, immunoprecipitation, immunohistochemistry, and flow cytometry.

Quality Control (QC) of Hamster Antibodies

At Creative Biolabs, we understand that each project has unique performance and compliance requirements. That's why we offer a flexible suite of quality control (QC) services tailored to your specific goals and intended downstream applications. Whether you require high-purity antibodies for sensitive assays or functional validation for therapeutic screening, we can integrate the appropriate analytical and functional tests into your production workflow.

  • Our QC options include standard assessments such as SDS-PAGE and SEC-HPLC for purity and aggregation profiles, as well as antigen-specific ELISA to confirm binding activity. Endotoxin testing via LAL assay is available upon request for cell-based or in vivo usage. For recombinant formats, we also offer DNA sequencing of expression constructs and expression titer quantification.
  • Additional services such as epitope mapping, affinity ranking (via SPR/BLI), cross-reactivity profiling, and species-specific panel testing can be incorporated upon consultation. Each QC package is supported by comprehensive data reports and documentation to ensure traceability and reproducibility. We work closely with clients to define appropriate specifications and ensure every batch meets the agreed-upon standards.

Advantages of Sheep Antibodies

High serum yield enables cost-effective production of gram-level antibody quantities from a single animal.

Strong and broad immune responses allow recognition of weakly immunogenic or conserved mammalian antigens.

Unique IgG subclass diversity expands epitope coverage, offering enhanced binding versatility.

Phylogenetic distance from rodents and humans improves specificity in cross-species detection assays.

Ideal for generating anti-idiotype antibodies, especially targeting rodent-derived or therapeutic IgGs.

Extended immunization schedules allow for affinity maturation and improved batch-to-batch consistency.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q1: What antigen formats are compatible with sheep immunization?

A1: We support peptides (with or without carriers), full-length proteins, cell lysates, and recombinant domains, depending on the immunogenicity requirements.

Q2: Can you generate monoclonal or recombinant antibodies from sheep?

A2: Yes, we offer B-cell cloning and recombinant antibody production from sheep PBMCs or lymphoid tissue, particularly for high-specificity applications.

Q3: Are sheep-derived antibodies suitable for immunoassays involving human samples?

A3: Yes. Due to their phylogenetic distance from humans, sheep antibodies often show low background and high specificity when used in human sample assays.
