Sodium dodecyl sulfate polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis (SDS-PAGE) is a very common analytical technique for separating and characterizing proteins by electrophoresis, which uses a discontinuous polyacrylamide gel as a support medium, and sodium dodecyl sulfate (SDS) to denature the proteins. SEC-MALS analysis allows for more accurate mass measurement than either of these two methods alone.
