Recombinant Human Anti-MAPT Antibody (clone Tilavonemab)

Tilavonemab is a humanized IgG4 antibody that was developed by C2N Diagnostics and AbbVie to treat tauopathies. It specifically targets an aggregated, extracellular form of pathological tau by binding to amino acids 25-30 in tau's N-terminus. By blocking the uptake of tau aggregates in human and mouse neurons, Tilavonemab effectively reduces brain atrophy. This particular form of tau is believed to play a role in the transneuronal propagation of tau pathology in cell-based and mouse models, potentially explaining the characteristic progression of tau pathology in Alzheimer's disease.
